The message reads, in part:
“Please accept my congratulations on the landmark and truly historic event – the 70th anniversary of launching the commercial operations of the world’s first nuclear power plant in the city of Obninsk.
The launch of the Obninsk NPP marked a significant milestone in the history of civilian nuclear technology, paving the way for the development of the nuclear power industry in our country and beyond its borders.
Over these years, our national nuclear sector has made tremendous progress, with advanced nuclear technologies now creating new opportunities in energy, medicine, in the harmonious development of Arctic territories, our national space programme and in other fields. Moreover, the nuclear sector plays a crucial role in maintaining nuclear parity and enhancing the defence capability of our state.
I am delighted to note that the current staff of the Obninsk NPP and the Rosatom State Corporation painstakingly preserve the unique intellectual, scientific and technological legacy established by many generations of their predecessors. They are actively involved in addressing high-priority national objectives and generously share their knowledge with young specialists, students from specialised universities and foreign partners. It is deeply symbolic that the city is now hosting the Obninsk NEW International Youth Nuclear Forum.”
