Condolences on the death of cardiac surgeon Renat Akchurin

Vladimir Putin conveyed his condolences on the death of famous cardiac surgeon Renat Akchurin to his family and friends and the staff of the Yevgeny Chazov National Medical Research Centre of Cardiology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

The message reads, in part:

“Renat Akchurin devoted his life to selfless and compassionate service to people. He was infinitely devoted to his calling and professional duty. His unique contribution to the progress of medical science, advanced areas of cardiac surgery, to strengthening the best traditions of national healthcare inspires a deep respect.

The memory of Renat Akchurin, a remarkable person and a true devotee, will be kept forever by thousands of people whose health and life this outstanding doctor helped to save, as well as by his family, friends, colleagues and disciples.”

Renat Akchurin, an outstanding Soviet and Russian cardiac surgeon, clinician, Deputy Director General for Surgery at the National Medical Research Centre of Cardiology, and member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, died on October 6 aged 78.
