On Dusti (Friendship) Square in Dushanbe, Vladimir Putin laid a wreath at the monument to Ismail Samani, the founder of the first Tajik state.
The monument was erected in 1999 to mark the 1,100th anniversary of the Samanid state. The monumental ensemble was created by Tajikistani architect Bakhovadin Zukhuruddinov and Russian sculptor Lev Kerbel.
