The President said that over the course of this Year of the Teacher the plans have been laid for continuing to develop Russia’s education system. This includes the New School strategy, the draft law on education, which has been put before the public for general discussion, and implementation of various programmes and projects at federal and regional level.
President Medvedev stressed that more new schools must be built and efforts must continue to improve the education process and lay a modern legal foundation for the education system.
The ceremony took place at Pashkov House (one of the Russian State Library’s buildings), and Mr Medvedev took the opportunity after the event to visit the building’s museum, where he saw unique examples of books, historic documents and manuscripts.
