Vladimir Putin laid flowers at the coffin and paid tribute to the famous singer. The President expressed his condolences to Galina Vishnevskaya's family. On December 1, 2012 the President signed an executive order awarding the opera singer the Order For Services to the Fatherland I degree for her outstanding contribution to Russian culture and music.
