Vladimir Putin attended a farewell ceremony for judo trainer Anatoly Rakhlin 2013-08-09 12:10:00 St Petersburg The President came to the Judo Centre on Kondratyevsky Prospekt in St Petersburg to pay his last respects to outstanding judo trainer and holder of the Honoured Trainer of Russia title Anatoly Rakhlin. The building, which dates from the 19th century, housed one of the oldest martial arts training centres. Mr Rakhlin spent many years here training young people, Mr Putin among them. The President laid flowers at the coffin and expressed his condolences to Mr Rakhlin’s family. Mr Rakhlin passed away after a long illness at the age of 75. Over his 50 years of work he trained more than 100 holders of the Master of Sport title and in 2009 became the Russian women’s national judo team’s chief trainer. Mr Rakhlin will be buried at the Kuzmolovskoye Cemetery.
