President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Minister for Emergency Situations Sergei Shoigu and Governor of the Kemerovo Region Aman Tuleyev 2003-06-16 19:10:11 Mr Shoigu and Mr Tuleyev briefed the President on measures being taken to rescue people in the Prokopyevsk coal pit, following an accident which occurred in the Ziminka coal mine on June 16, 2003. According to various estimates between 18 and 22 miners had been trapped underground. Three miners have already been rescued.
