Russian Muslims have every right to feel they are a part of the Islamic world, announced President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with the ambassador for relations with the Islamic Conference Organisation (ICO) and other international Islamic organisations, V. Popov 2003-08-14 19:18:50 Russia’s initiative to join the ICO, at the first stage as an observer, was discussed during Vladimir Putin’s visit to Malaysia.The President also noted that Russia is prepared to take on obligations of a financial nature that are necessary to join the ICO. In October this year, Russia will participate as an observer at the Islamic Conference Organisation summit that will be held in Malaysia.
