King of Spain Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia held an official welcome ceremony for Dmitry and Svetlana Medvedev at the El Pardo Palace 2009-03-02 13:30:15 Madrid The ceremony began with the playing of the Russian and Spanish national anthems, after which Mr Medvedev and Juan Carlos I inspected the honour guard and introduced the members of their delegations. Mr Medvedev had a brief conversation with Juan Carlos I following the ceremony. Later, Mr Medvedev laid a wreath at the Monument to the Fallen for Spain on the Plaza de la Lealtad.
