It is expected that various issues relating to environmental security and environmental protection will be examined at the meeting. In particular, issues include improving systems designed to prevent environmental damage and crime, improving the air quality and that of drinking water in large cities, better waste management, and resolving problems associated with cleaning up and rehabilitating contaminated land in the Russian Arctic. Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Sergei Donskoy will make a keynote speech.
The environmental management of living systems and natural resources are priorities identified by Russia’s National Security Strategy through to 2020.
