The discussion will centre on scientific support in Arctic development and environmental safety of offshore projects. The President will also present state decorations to organisers and participants in the project to penetrate the subglacial Lake Vostok in Antarctica. Lake Vostok, the biggest subglacial lake in Antarctica, is located near Russia’s Vostok Antarctic station under a shield of ice around 4,000 metres deep and has been cut off from the earth’s surface for millions of years.
