Vladimir Putin will meet with core members of the Russian Popular Front 2015-11-26 15:20:00 The main purpose of the meeting is to discuss the Front’s project For Honest Purchases. The discussion will touch upon issues pertaining to combatting corruption, squandering and inefficient public spending. The project was launched in 2013 and envisages primarily public control over state purchases and purchases by state and municipal companies. Some 5,000 activists have lately joined the work to control these spheres in all regions of the country. Eight topical forums were held in each federal district, over 166 billion rubles worth of violations have been revealed and eliminated. Public control covers a very broad area: a number of federal targeted programmes, budget allocations for road construction, the quality of repair work, the situation in special economic zones, the purchasing of vehicles for top executives, spending by authorities of various levels on media coverage and many other things.
