In the morning, Vladimir Putin attended the public viewing for President of St
Petersburg University Lyudmila Verbitskaya, laid flowers and spoke with her
family.
Afterwards
the President took part in launching the M11 Moscow-St Petersburg motorway and talked
to the construction workers. He informed them public vote chose the name Neva
for the new road.
The President also chaired a meeting on the effect of the new motorway construction
investment project on the socioeconomic development of the regions.
Later in the day, Vladimir Putin attended the unveiling of a monument to writer and public activist Daniil Granin, laid flowers at the monument together with the writer’s daughter Marina Chernysheva-Granina and had a brief conversation with
city residents.
The President
visited Turbostroitel Judo Club and presented state awards to the club’s
athletes and veterans. He also took part in the keel-laying ceremony for the Nikolai Zubov ice-class patrol boat at the Admiralty Shipyards.
To conclude the working trip, Vladimir Putin
discussed the current situation and development plans for St Petersburg with Governor
Alexander Beglov. The President also had separate meetings with President of the Union of European Football Associations Aleksander Čeferin and Executive Chairman of the World Economic
Forum Klaus Martin Schwab.
