During the visit, First Lady of Russia Svetlana Medvedeva and First Lady of Italy Clio Napolitano toured the Quirinal Palace in Rome – the official residence of the Italian President – accompanied by Louis Godart, director for the Conservation of Artistic Heritage and Adviser to the President of Italy. The Quirinal Palace is a large palatial complex dating back to the Renaissance era and located on Quirinal Hill in Rome.
Svetlana Medvedeva and Clio Napolitano also stepped out onto the balcony to enjoy the view of the Eternal City. Mrs Medvedeva admitted her admiration for the Italians’ care toward historic treasures.
The First Lady of Russia invited the President and the First Lady of Italy to visit Moscow and take a tour of the Kremlin. Mrs Napolitano thanked Mrs Medvedeva for the invitation and said that she is acquainted with the Moscow Kremlin museum director Yelena Gagarina, a daughter of the world’s first astronaut.
Svetlana Medvedeva also accompanied the President of Russia during his visit to the Vatican.
