Svetlana Medvedeva and Queen Sofia were given a tour of the Russian Museum by its director, Vladimir Gusev. The distinguished guests learned about the history of the Russian art museum, which has a collection of more than half a million works, covering every century of Russian history.
The First Lady of Russia and the Queen of Spain visited the Apartment Museum of Alexander Pushkin (1799–1837), where the poet spent the last years of his life and died after a fatal wound following a duel. Museum Director Sergei Nekrasov talked about the life and heritage of the great Russian poet.
Later, Svetlana Medvedeva and the Queen of Spain attended the opening ceremony for the exhibition from the Prado National Museum at the State Hermitage, together with Dmitry Medvedev and Juan Carlos I, and then toured the exhibition, which consists of 66 masterpieces painted between 1450 and 1820.
