The exhibition displays 450 Russian 10th through 19th centuries art masterpieces received from 25 Russian museums, libraries and archives, as well as a rare showpiece from the Louvre, an armilla neckpiece depicting the Resurrection and Descent Into Hell scene.
The honored guests were taken on a tour by the museum’s Director General Irina Lebedeva. Svetlana Medvedeva and Patriarch Kirill were shown the 12th century Golden Gate from one of Suzdal’s monasteries, an early replica of the icon of the Holy Virgin of Vladimir by Andrei Rublev, and the Ostromir Gospel (1056–1057).
One of the most valuable pieces of the exhibition viewed by the distinguished guests was the diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires and pearls rich casing of the Holy Trinity icon by Andrei Rublev.
