The message reads, in part:
“Established 80 years ago, the “winged infantry” received their baptism of fire in the Great Patriotic War. During the war and later, while performing international missions and participating in peacekeeping and counterterrorism operations, the airborne troops have consistently shown a high level of professionalism, courage and fortitude.
The personnel selected for service in the airborne troops today are ready, at the risk to their own lives, to defend their country’s freedom and independence and to ensure the peaceful life of our people. To perform tasks effectively, soldiers and officers must have up-to-date knowledge and actively train to use new high-tech weapons and equipment.
I am confident that the professionalism and conscientious attitude towards your duties will continue to help you serve the Russian people and state with honour.”
