During a brief conversation, Russia’s First Lady welcomed Rita Sargsyan to Moscow and thanked her for the hospitality extended during her visit to Yerevan in May 2009. Svetlana Medvedeva said that Armenia has left a profound impression on her.
Russian-Armenian cooperation in the humanitarian sphere has been expanding and improving, Svetlana Medvedeva stressed, adding that Russia attaches great importance to cultural cooperation with Armenia, which is an important factor in promoting understanding between the two nations.
According to Svetlana Medvedeva, Russian-Armenian relations in education have also become more active in recent years. In particular, the seasons of Russian and Armenian culture were held with great success in Armenia and Russia. Interregional cooperation, including in the humanitarian sphere, is a promising direction of bilateral cooperation, said the Russian First Lady.
Svetlana Medvedeva invited Rita Sargsyan to attend as a guest of honour the Third Rising Stars in the Kremlin International Festival to be held on November 24, 2011.
Svetlana Medvedeva and Rita Sargsyan also toured the Grand Kremlin Palace, where they viewed a suite of rooms used by the Emperor and his family. This part of the Palace consists of seven rooms: the dining room, living room, the Empress’ study, boudoir, bedroom, the Emperor’s study and the reception area. Each room has its own style and together they form a coherent architectural ensemble.
