The exhibition, showcasing the singer’s letters, documents, stage costumes, evening gowns and personal possessions, opened at the Sheremetevsky Palace in St Petersburg as part of the second Diaghilev. P.S. international arts festival.
The exhibition was organised with support from the Social and Cultural Initiatives Foundation chaired by Svetlana Medvedeva, and the Maria Callas International Cultural Association. It is one of many events being held within the framework of the Year of Russian Language and Culture in Italy and Year of Italian Language and Culture in Russia.
After touring the exhibition, the First Lady visited other halls in Sheremetevsky Palace and attended a concert by the Mariinsky Theatre soloists performing excerpts from Maria Callas’ favorite operas.
