The centre offers activities in various fields for children aged 6–18.
The First Lady visited the different sections and groups, in particular the hobby aeromodelling, where children learn not just how to make model aircraft, but also master the basics of aircraft manufacturing, and, for older children, parachute-jumping training.
Mrs Medvedeva also visited a handicrafts and folk crafts group, a soft toy workshop, a dance studio, a potters’ workshop, an art studio, and a choir class.
The First Lady was particularly interested in the young journalists group, where the children and young people publish a youth supplement to the district newspaper.
Speaking at the concert marking the centre’s opening, Mrs Medvedeva thanked the centre for its efforts to preserve traditional Russian culture and hand it on to today’s children.
The First Lady presented the children with a picture and musical instruments.
