The centre will focus on the prevention and early detection of cancers that commonly affect women. Public awareness efforts will be an important part of the centre’s work.
The medical centre was opened on the grounds of the Resurrection (Novodevichy) Convent. Speaking at the opening ceremony, the First Lady noted that the government, church, and the public will work together to provide free assistance to women.
The idea for creating such a facility was brought up a year ago at the White Rose charity event, whose goal was to attract public attention to protecting women’s health and maternity. In the future, similar centres will be opened in other Russian cities. Svetlana Medvedeva thanked everyone who participated in the creation of the centre.
