The border checkpoint between Russia and Abkhazia is located near the bridge over the River Psou and has been open since 1992. The Federal Customs Service has been conducting its reconstruction since 2005. The construction of the vehicle part of the bridge was completed in 2011, and the checkpoint will begin working in a test mode from January 25, 2012. It is planned to complete the construction of the checkpoint’s pedestrian part in 2012.
