The Agreement is aimed at preventing unlawful, undeclared and unregulated catching of living marine resources in the north-western Pacific Ocean.
The Agreement requires confirmation of the legality of acquiring (catching) living marine resources in certain marine areas with a special written authorisation certificate.
The said certificate is issued by the appropriate authorities to exporters for exporting living marine resource items from the territories of the Russian Federation and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
The Agreement also establishes other measures to preserve and sustainably use living marine resources.
The agreement shall remain in effect for three years and shall be automatically renewed for subsequent three-year periods unless either of the Parties thereto in a timely manner notifies the other Party in writing of its intention to terminate the agreement.
