The two leaders will discuss implementation of earlier agreements, in particular those reached during Mr Putin’s official visit to Kazakhstan on July 7, and during the IX Russia-Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum in Pavlodar on September 19, 2012.
The two presidents will also discuss a broad range of cooperation matters in the energy, space, and industrial sectors, including developing direct bilateral trade and economic ties, and will exchange views on current international issues.
Kazakhstan is one of Russia’s biggest foreign trade partners. Bilateral trade increased by 35.4 percent in 2011 compared to 2010 and came to a total of $20.5 billion.
2012 is a jubilee year for relations between the two countries, which are marking the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance and the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between them. Following the talks, the two presidents will attend a concert held to mark the anniversary at the Bolshoi Theatre.
