The Agreement was signed in Dushanbe on September 3, 2011 and aims to ensure airspace security, prevent terrorism and establish a common set of procedures for member countries’ air defence duty units to respond in the event of aircraft hijackings.
An integral part of the Agreement is the Provision on the operating procedures for CIS member countries’ air duty units in case of terrorist threats in their respective airspace and/in the event of aircraft hijacking. The Provision also sets forth a set of actions to be taken by control authority in terms of defence, law enforcement, security, and organisation and service of air traffic in CIS member countries in such situations.
