The centre opened in 2011 and runs a rehabilitation programme for tiger cubs that have lost their mothers and were removed from their natural environment. The rehabilitation process includes developing the cubs’ ability to track prey. One female tiger was released back into the wild in May this year in the Bastak nature reserve in Jewish Autonomous Region. The tiger was taken out of its natural habitat in the spring of 2012 in a severely undernourished state and underwent a full course of rehabilitation at the centre. The tiger’s movements are now being monitored.
