The message reads, in part:
“These readings, which began 20 years ago, have become a significant event in the life of the country, an example of fruitful dialogue and cooperation between the Russian Orthodox Church, the state authorities and public organisations. According to tradition, you address relevant issues related to the preservation of our rich historical and cultural heritage, and strengthening the enduring spiritual, moral and family values. Special attention is paid to the problems in education and enlightenment of the younger generation, raising young people in the spirit of patriotism, civic consciousness, and respect for the national history.”
The 21st International Educational Christmas Readings on Traditional Values and the Modern World are being held in Moscow on January 24–27, 2013.
