The message reads, in part:
“This momentous date signifies years of hard work and training, a brilliant constellation of Olympic triumphs and world records, and the gold won at most prestigious championships and competitions. These outstanding achievements are part of our national heritage and shared pride, a worthy example of dedication to duty and national interests, courage and fortitude.
Today we honour the CSKA athletes of all generations. Above all, we remember with a deep sense of respect the names of famous athletes who contributed glorious, heroic pages to the history of the Central Sports Army Club, those who in the terrible 1940s changed their sports uniforms for army coats and fearlessly fought in the Great Patriotic War, those who developed the remarkable traditions of their club, strengthening our country’s reputation and international status as a leading sports nation.
I am pleased to note that today representatives of the red and blue club are among the recognised leaders in Russian and international sports. CSKA stands for great football, and real, men's ice hockey. It has strong, competitive volleyball and basketball teams, gymnasts and figure skaters, athletics and martial arts teams. It stands for a history full of victories, a creative heritage and a huge potential of the younger generation of athletes.
I am confident that you will show your strength and will represent Russia with honour at the Universiade in Kazan and the Olympic Games in Sochi, and will fight for victory at the world ice hockey and football championships, which our country is preparing to host.”
