The message of greetings reads, in part:
”Dear friends,
I would like to extend my sincere greetings to all the participants and visitors of the Expo 2015 Universal Exhibition.
This large-scale event hosts over 140 countries, representing 94 percent of the world’s population. This is an all-time record in the history of Universal Exhibitions.
The theme chosen for this year’s Exhibition, Feeding the planet: Energy for life, is perfectly in keeping with the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. It is important that during the event particular attention will be given to issues of great magnitude, such as food security and universal access to food, building up agricultural potential, promoting healthy living and developing modern medicine.
EXPO 2015 represents an excellent opportunity for experts, academics, representatives of the business community and civil society, and heads of specialised agencies from different countries to reflect together on ways to achieve sustainable development in all regions of the globe. Given the challenges and threats that humanity faces in the 21st century, including natural disasters and industrial accidents, poverty and famine, the international community’s combined efforts in this area should become one of the key priorities of this event.
Russia accounts for one tenth of the world's agricultural land, one fifth of the planet's fresh water supply and it makes a significant contribution to global food security. The Russian pavilion at EXPO 2015 is highly representative and reflects the huge agricultural and industrial potential our country has to offer, its great cultural and humanitarian heritage and its acknowledged role in world science. Russia is proud of its scientists, inventors and public figures, such as Nikolai Vavilov, Vladimir Vernadsky, Dmitry Mendeleev, Ivan Michurin and Vasily Dokuchaev, who have made exceptional discoveries in the fields of genetics, botany, chemistry, crop science, mineralogy, soil science, and many other branches of human knowledge.
Growing for the world. Cultivating for the future is the theme Russia has chosen for the exhibition. It speaks of the biodiversity in many regions of our country and its agricultural and industrial traditions, together with state-of-the-art technologies and environmental standards in agricultural production. Visitors to our pavilion will be able to fully appreciate the variety and originality of our national cuisine and I am sure the traditional Russian hospitality will leave no one indifferent.
Russia will take an active part in the EXPO 2015 cultural and business programme. Representatives of the Russian business community and our experts will work together at the roundtables and conferences on the sidelines the Exhibition. Our best actors, dancers and singers will perform on the most prestigious stages in Milan.
EXPO 2015 represents an excellent opportunity to look to the future, to cultivate new ideas and to build bridges for a more productive collaboration, not just in the interest of each country, but also for the prosperity and progress of the whole of humanity.
I sincerely wish you every success at the exhibition, as well as constructive and rewarding work.“
