The Agreement establishes an international, intergovernmental organisation to carry out joint nuclear physics and astrophysics study of the ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays.
It also provides for deciding on the legal status of the Pamir-Chakaltai International Scientific Research Centre, which should result in the resumption of its full-scale operation to support fundamental scientific research conducted by scientists from many of the world’s nations, including Russia and other member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The agreement was signed in Dushanbe on August 29, 2008.
