The President’s telegram reads, in part:
“Over the three years since the forum’s founding, you have made a substantial contribution to strengthening trust and understanding between Russia and the Muslim countries.
Your work is helping to create a joint alternative to radicalism and extremism, which are not the preserve of any one religion or people. The group offers a platform for exchanging experience in building harmonious relations between different cultures and religions.
The idea of a partnership between civilisations is especially relevant today. Comprehensive and in-depth study of the opportunities for contact between civilisations helps us in our search for ways to improve the world’s health, contribute to sustainable development and come up with effective responses to today’s threats and challenges.
As an observer in the Organisation of the Islamic Conference Russia is firmly committed to continued expansion of its constructive dialogue with the Muslim world.
I am sure that this kind of active cooperation will help us to build a fairer system of international relations and settle regional and global conflicts.”
The Russia – Islamic World Strategic Vision Group was established in 2006 to broaden cooperation between Russia and the Muslim countries. The group is holding its fifth meeting on December 21–23 in Kuwait.
