To guarantee the provision of quality food products to the people, the Government has been instructed to complete the creation of a food quality and safety management system through the creation of a comprehensive traceability mechanism based on state information systems, ensuring, in particular, the consumer accessibility of reliable digital data about the origin of food components; gradually updating state information systems with information regarding the safety and quality of food products and their components; and considering ways to preclude the technical possibility of illegal commercialisation of food products or the marketing of expired foods.
The Government, working together with the Russian Academy of Sciences, is to ensure the updating and adjustment of the norms of physiological requirements in energy and nutrients depending on the current age, gender and occupation structure, plus a list of recommendations on the rational norms of food consumption; as well as to adjust food safety targets set out in the national strategic planning documents to these norms.
The Prosecutor General’s Office is to inspect compliance with legal requirements to food quality and safety by federal and regional executive authorities and relevant organisations.
