Vladimir Putin expressed condolences in connection with the terrorist attack in northeastern Mali on September 7.
The two leaders had a substantive exchange of opinions on practical measures for the further development of Russia-Mali cooperation in various areas, such as trade, the economy and humanitarian spheres, as well as efforts to tackle terrorism.
Assimi Goïta thanked Vladimir Putin for the support provided by the Russian side, in particular, during the recent UN Security Council vote on lifting international sanctions against the Republic of Mali.
While discussing issues of ensuring stability in West Africa and the Sahara-Sahel region, the sides agreed on the need to resolve the situation in the Republic of Niger through political and diplomatic means.
It was agreed to continue contacts at various levels.
