The Russian Federation and the Republic of Indonesia signed an Extradition Treaty on March 31, 2023, in the Province of Bali.
It is designed to ensure more effective cooperation between its parties on combatting crime and provides for the extradition by both parties of persons located on the territory of the requested party and wanted by the requesting party for criminal prosecution or executing a sentence.
Under the treaty, extradition applies to crimes that are punishable under criminal law in each of the state parties and which carry a prison term of at least one year or a heavier penalty.
