Nikolai Ryzhkov, a prominent Soviet and Russian political figure, passed away on February 28 at the age of 94.
Nikolai Ryzhkov served as Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR from 1985 to 1991. He was also a deputy of the State Duma of the 2nd and 3rd convocations. Additionally, from September 2003 to September 2023, he served as a member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation as a senator.
Nikolai Ryzhkov was awarded many state decorations of the USSR and the Russian Federation, including the title of Hero of Labour, orders For Services to the Fatherland, 1st and 4th degree, and the orders of Honour.
