Dmitry Medvedev sent a message of greetings to participants in the 9th Meeting of heads of special services, state security and law-enforcement agencies that are foreign partners of Russia’s Federal Security Service.
The message reads, in part:
“Your respected forum, which regularly attracts delegations from dozens of countries, has become an important step towards expanding global anti-terrorism cooperation, a substantial contribution to maintaining stability and rule of law in many world regions.
The global challenges that many countries, including Russia, face today set common tasks before us, and the absolute priorities here are fighting terrorism and extremism, intensifying counterintelligence operations, and ensuring reliable border security. Our success in achieving these goals depends directly on the level of coordination between security services, the use of advanced technology, and the professionalism and qualifications of staff.”
The meeting features 86 delegations from 63 countries, representatives of the UN Security Council Counterterrorism Committee and Sanctions Committee, the Workshop on the UN Global Counterterrorism Strategy, the Regional Antiterrorism Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), and the CIS Anti-terrorism Centre.
