The First Lady began her day with a visit to the Teremok Pre-School where a children's choir sang for her.
Svetlana Medvedeva also visited the Museum of Russian Culture where she was shown around by the staff and told about the history of the Russian community in San Francisco.
The First Lady brought presents to the museum and the Russian cultural centre. “Please accept these modest gifts to the Russian Centre. Recently we celebrated Joseph Brodsky's anniversary, and this album contains the last photographs and drawings from the American period of the Russian poet's life. At present we progress in establishing a museum in the great poet's flat in St Petersburg,” Svetlana Medvedeva said. She also presented the museum with recordings of Lyudmila Zykina, whom she called a great Russian singer. Her last present was a painting depicting Veliky Ustyug town.
As she was saying good-bye, Svetlana Medvedeva addressed the centre's staff. “I would like to thank you for your love for our great country. The work you are doing is important and much required. Russia's spiritual life is on the rise at present, and we are grateful to you for preserving here our culture, spiritual values and their continuity, and, most importantly, love.”
After that Svetlana Medvedeva visited the editorial offices of the Russian Life Weekly.
