The message reads, in part:
“You are known in Russia as a respected politician and statesman who has made a great contribution to strengthening Namibia’s role and influence in the African region and on the global stage.
Your personal efforts have helped give new impetus to the traditionally friendly relations and cooperation between Russia and Namibia. I have warm recollections of our meetings in Windhoek in June last year, and in Moscow in May this year.
Our constructive talks gave a big boost to our bilateral relations in all areas, and we remain committed to carrying out the plans we outlined for building up our ties and moving forward on key projects, above all in important sectors such as energy, transport, the mining industry, and scientific and humanitarian exchanges.
I am sure that our joint goal-oriented efforts will help to develop a multifaceted partnership between our countries for the good of our peoples, and in the interests of strengthening security and promoting social and economic development on the African continent.”
