Dmitry Medvedev made his first state visit to Armenia. The Russian leader held talks with President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan in Yerevan. Several documents have been signed, including a bilateral treaty extending the lease on the Russian military base in Armenia and an agreement on the construction of nuclear power plant units.
Dmitry Medvedev and Serzh Sargsyan attended the opening ceremony of the Hill of Honour memorial complex. On the same day the Russian President participated in an informal summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation. The meeting discussed CSTO’s ongoing and planned measures to promote stability in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the creation of an effective crisis response system within the CSTO.
