Ryazan Region is one of seven regions in which the President imposed a state of emergency on August 2, 2010 due to the serious wildfires. The state of emergency in the other six regions – Nizhny Novgorod, Voronezh, Vladimir and Moscow Regions, and the Republics of Mari El and Mordovia – was lifted earlier.

Following a report from Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu, Dmitry Medvedev decided to lift the state of emergency in Ryazan Region that had been declared in response to wildfires.
