Prior to the start of the school year, the Foundation for Social and Cultural Initiatives headed by the First Lady, sent over 900 pieces of equipment and furniture, as well as books for the school library, to students at the school in Kriusha village, Ryazan Region, destroyed by fire.
In her message to the students, Svetlana Medvedeva noted that they know better than others that “many cities and villages in our country suffered as a result of wildfires during this abnormally hot summer, and many people have lost their homes and properties”.
The First Lady emphasised that the Government has developed a set of measures to assist the victims which involve “providing shelter to people who have lost their homes, monetary compensations, and medical care”. Assistance has been also provided by private individuals.
Even though the situation is not easy, “these are temporary setbacks. Your new school is already being built, and I am certain that it will be even better than the old one,” she noted. Now, the time has come to “resume your studies; after all, what’s most important for you is to acquire new knowledge that will help you to better understand yourselves and the world around you, as well as finding your place in life”.
The Foundation for Social and Cultural Initiatives delivered to the Kriusha school furniture, computers and software, monitors, a video projector, and all the necessary accessories.
Between September and March classes for the pupils at the village will be arranged at the regional forestry administration building, and then a new, fully equipped school will be ready.
