Speaking at the closing ceremony, Svetlana Medvedeva emphasised that the festival is widely recognised and has become a major event in Russia’s cultural life.
“With every passing year, the festival attracts more interest and broadens its geographical reach. Today, film screenings titled Light of the Radiant Angel are being held in Russian cities and in Europe,” the First Lady remarked.
Svetlana Medvedeva noted that the current festival falls on the year of the 65th anniversary of the victory in Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945. In her opinion, the films participating in the festival “are filled with the drama of those events,” but the films’ main characters are true to “high ideals of good-heartedness and justice.”
The Radiant Angel International Charity Festival is a state-sponsored project and is supported by the Culture Ministry, the government of Moscow, and the Social and Cultural Initiatives Foundation. The spiritual guardian of the Radiant Angel Festival is Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
The festival was held in Moscow on November 1–7, 2010 and its 200 films attracted a 15,000 audience.
