The Government of the Russian Federation has been instructed to draft and adopt a long-term integrated strategy for developing inbound and domestic tourism in the Russian Federation. In particular, the Government must pay special attention to improving the state monitoring system of tourism statistics; determining priority areas for promoting individual areas of tourism; creating an affordable and comfortable environment for tourists; and building a network of international-standard hotels.
The Government also received instructions to submit proposals on simplifying the requirements and procedures for the procurement of visas by foreign tourists from nations that account for the principal tourist flows, and reducing visa waiting times; lowering administrative barriers to admitting foreign tourists, including with regard to the import and export of hunting equipment and hunting trophies.
The instructions also call for measures to protect Russia’s interests with regard to improving Russia’s national image as a desirable tourist destination in countries that account for the largest tourist flows.
