Instructions following Russian Literary Assembly

Vladimir Putin signed a list of instructions following the Russian Literary Assembly, held on November 21, 2013.

The Presidential Executive Office has been instructed jointly with the Government of the Russian Federation to develop and present suggestions aimed at creating a federal fund to support Russian literature.

Instructions to the Government concern, in part, establishing Russian Presidential grants for supporting non-profit organisations engaged in supporting Russian literature in the domestic market and the promotion of reading; providing financial support to Russian book-selling organisations that are implementing socially oriented programmes; training experts in the field of literary translation for works written in the languages of the peoples of Russia, CIS Background information Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

The Government has also been instructed to work with regional executives to develop suggestions on holding the Year of Literature in Russia in 2015.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry has been instructed to analyse the efficiency of existing forms of promoting and advancing the Russian language, Russian literature and the literature of the peoples of the Russian Federation abroad.
