The Government of the Russian Federation has been instructed to create, under the supervision of the Ministry of Healthcare, national medical centres based on the Blokhin Cancer Research Centre, Burdenko Neurosurgery Institute, Bakoulev Centre for Cardiovascular Surgery, and Scientific Centre of Children Health federal government budget institutions.
The national medical centres shall be involved in organisational and methodological management of the work of relevant medical organisations, shall conduct scientific research in the fields of medicine and biology, including the creation of new pharmaceuticals and medical devices and the development of new medical treatment methods; provide high-tech medical aid for the citizens, and develop clinical recommendations (treatment protocols) pertaining to provision of medical aid.
