In the aim of preserving, supporting and developing the Russian language as the common heritage of the Russian Federation’s peoples, a means of international communication, and an intrinsic part of world civilisation’s cultural and spiritual heritage, the President issued an Executive Order establishing Russian Language Day, which will be marked every year on June 6, the birthday of the great Russian poet and father of the modern Russian literary language Alexander Pushkin.
