The Agreement’s provisions regulate the respective parties’ jurisdictions regarding the integrated Russian military base on Abkhazian territory.
The Agreement sets out the procedures for using the base’s military forces in coordination with the Abkhazian armed forces to protect the sovereignty and security of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia, and the procedures for the use and operation of the base’s facilities and other fixed property. The Agreement also defines the status of the base’s personnel, servicemen’s families and civilian personnel, and other issues related to the base’s functioning.
