The draft law would introduce amendments reducing, in certain cases, the investigation period, introducing specific procedures for passing court verdicts, and clarifying procedures for investigating reported offences.
The amendments also concern forensic report procedures and safeguarding the rights of the suspect or accused.
As per the amendments, procedural registration using technical means will be used for some investigative actions instead of attesting witnesses, and investigators, prosecutors, or defence lawyers found guilty of falsifying evidence in their investigations of criminal cases would face longer terms of imprisonment.
