In accordance with the Federal Law, a key direction of government support for the production of agricultural products and sustainable development in rural areas is supporting agricultural manufacturers that are operating in areas that are unfavourable to farming.
It is stipulated that areas unfavourable for agricultural production are defined as territories in Russian regions where, as a result of natural climatic conditions and the state of the soil, as well as the socioeconomic factors, agricultural manufacturers’ income level is lower than average, but the production of agricultural products must be continued in order to provide employment to the rural residents, increase their income levels and maintain local traditions.
In accordance with the Federal Law, the procedures and criteria for classifying areas as unfavourable for agricultural production are established by the Government of the Russian Federation.
