The Federal Law has been adopted to implement the decisions of the Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations and Russia’s National Ethnic Policy Strategy through to 2025.
The Federal Law refers to the following responsibilities regarding interethnic relations as incumbent on regional authorities: strengthening interethnic and interfaith harmony, preventing discrimination on grounds of ethnicity, language or religion, and facilitating migrants’ social and cultural adaptation.
The Federal Law also establishes similar responsibilities regarding interethnic relations for all levels of local self-government agencies.
